Fines Reform Overview (from 31 December 2017)

From 1 July 2017, the Infringements Act 2006 (Vic) (Infringements Act) was changed as part of Victoria's fines reform process, including new ‘social justice initiatives' that affect people experiencing vulnerability.

From 31 December 2017, the Fines Reform Act 2014 (Vic) (FRA) - as amended by the Fines Reform Amendment Act 2017 (Vic) and the Fines Reform and Infringements Acts Amendment Act 2016 (Vic) - commenced, bringing further significant changes to the infringements system. The Infringements Regulations 2016 (Vic) have also been amended, and the Fines Reform Regulations 2017 (Vic) commenced as stand-alone regulations under the FRA.
